Matrix Online Movie Matrix Online is a virtual world that allows players to experience the matrix like never before. It is based on the matrix after the end of the final movie, when an uneasy truce between the Machines and the Zionites has just begun. This doesn¡¯t mean that they are the best of friends however, as the Zionites are still trying to free humans from the grip of the matrix, which the Machines need for their survival. The game takes place entirely within the matrix, which means that there is no option to explore the real world. Players begin life as a newly free human. They are given training missions by Zion to get them started, but soon they¡¯re left up to their own devices. That¡¯s one of the results of making people think freely, there¡¯s always the chance they¡¯ll decide to do things you didn¡¯t want them to. The option to choose which faction to work for is an interesting aspect of the Matrix Online. The decision however is not without its drawbacks. Zion for instance will not take kindly to an operative that they have spent time training suddenly turning against them. This leads to all kinds of interesting, but usually violent, encounters with other players. One thing missing from the Matrix Online however is the ability to play as anything other than a human. So for those who regard agent Smith as their idol will want to hold off, at least until a possible expansion which allows players to choose another ¡®race¡¯ to play as.
